I saw The Northman in the theater today. I was absolutely transfixed from start to finish. In my opinion not one scene was boring or superfluous. A masterpiece. I am so grateful to have seen this in the theater. I was blown away. If you're not faint of heart, make sure you see this movie in a high quality theater. If you love the genre you will not be disappointed! This exquisitely beautiful movie is an amazing work of art! I am sincerely shocked by the numerous bad reviews posted here. Some people should clearly stick with the Lion King as The Northman is based on the real foundational saga, not a sanitized version for children. Expect violence and blood. Vikings sagas are not romcoms! If you want a popcorn movie go watch Spiderman. If you want to see a visual feast go see The Northman. The Northman totally works where The Green Knight did not for me. I wanted to like the Green Knight but was sadly disappointed. Fascinating to enjoy the true saga that inspired Shakespeare. Obviously not a movie for everyone but to those who love and admire ambitious, bold, and lush film making go see this primal masterpiece in the theater!
