The negative reviews of this film are mystifying and seem to be based on a popular trend of hating on the latest Star Wars film rather than actually judging the film on its merits. I believe it to be one of the best of the Star Wars film series, and despite expecting to see problems (based on the ridiculous headlines I'd seen) was unable to fault it. Some of JJ Abrams' best work. Engaging from beginning to end. Suspense, surprises, and quality storytelling. There were very few annoying 'cutesy' creatures, if any. This film is a masterpiece, and is more than worthy of credit in the Star Wars universe as the grand finale.
