This movie is phenomenal, and it breaks my heart to see bad reviews. If we’re looking at it overall, the message is that we shouldn’t hate people for who/what they are, and it shows it so beautifully. For those who feel it may be too adult for kids (example: s**cide), please realize that growing up these days is different, and very hard, and kids deal with these feelings all the time. To each their own, but it’s real. This movie shows the consequences of hating people because of their differences, with multiple characters. If you’re worried about the queerness of it all, I hope you know that this movie will make some kids feel like they matter and they’re not alone in this world, and being their true authentic selves is not a bad thing. Queer people exist, and I for one would love my future kids to see this movie. I had to grow up watching love stories between girls and boys, and I still ended up being queer. We’ve always had animated movies with straight characters, where the prince gets the princess and they live happily ever after. Queer kids deserve to feel the excitement of queer characters in the same way everyone else gets to feel towards allllll the other characters in stories. Why? Because queer people exist and they shouldn’t be ashamed for who they are. Anyways, it’s a fantastic movie and I recommend (the queer characters just make it ever better).
