The addition of an open world, as well as, crafting, is enough to make me want to try and keep playing this game.
The frustration of gameplay, minus the positive aspects(for me) of rogue-likes/rogue-lites annoys me to no end.
I like it because of the open world; the sneaking around and selecting battles.
For me, those aspects are a huge plus.
That said, however, I'd rather re-run a procedurally generated dungeon over and over again to learn a boss in an exceptionally stylized
ARPG rogue-like side-scroller fashion.
Elden Ring is pretty, it's an open world, and all that, but in the end it's just another "Souls" title.
So, as a gamer and consumer, ask yourself, do you want to spend another $60 on a "Souls" game or not?
