Excellent movie, highly recommend

Compared to the first 2 movies, it's garbage tbh.

I only really watched through sheer curiosity about the cult-following and major hype it always seems to get. But honestly, what a disappointment. I feel like all the nudity and sexual content was merely to hide the fact that the writing was shoddy. It was just there to distract the watcher just in time to not realise how bad the movie was. The only real thing that kept me watching to the end was the curiosity of who the murderer was. But really, wasn't it obvious? The naked woman in the start was blonde. Oops, big give away. And why are cop's partners always fat, balding men who eat a ton of junk-food? Most of the characters (including Michael Douglas's character) were poorly written - they seemed immature and not very smart. The cops were awful in it too, like they just let crimes off, and forgot about them. DNA checks did exist the year this was made, making them seem even more dim. It wasn't a realistic movie to put it bluntly. I do like some of Verhoeven's other movies, but this one was terrible. Anyway, 1 stars, because I can't give 0.

Filmography is visually stunning, with some gorgeous futuristic scenery. There is also a good cast of actors. However, the story is a bit confusing and isn't all that compared - for that reason 4 stars instead of 5.

Excellent movie - Joaquin Phoenix is brilliant, the story is rivetting and I love the dark theme of the movie. Worthy of the Batman universe, perhaps the best and most realistic portrayal of the Joker to date.
