This game is hot trash compared to the other entries in the series. The one additional star I gave is really because of the scenery and diversity of the cast.
First of all, the combat sucks. The stamina system is utter garbage and it feels like they were trying to do some kind of half hearted attempt at a sekiro type parry based combat system. I think they were trying to make it harder since in games like Black flag you could parry and kill 25 enemies back to back with relative ease. But instead of providing a fun challenge they just made it annoying.
Chests are needlessly hard to get to. Between all the barred doors and boarded up windows it's not even worth it. You can circle a building for 20 minutes and still have no clue how to get in. This is not really an exploration friendly game which is a major step down from the RPG entries. It's more of "puzzle" than a world truly open to being explored. And a cheap, tedious, poorly executed puzzle at that. It gets old very fast
Story's pretty boring, you could play the game listening to Spotify and probably feel no different than you would if you actually took time to listen to each character's dialogue. Especially Roshan or whatever her name is.
Basim seems like a cool guy, but his general inefficiency through the gameplay makes him just seem like an inept dork. Randomly falling off buildings or doing leaps of faith. Somehow leaping 3 feet up to grab a two inch ledge but not being able to jump a foot and a half to the side to a different ledge. Getting dunked on by literally any of those samurai looking guys.
Speaking of them, this game really didn't need self healing enemies AND this cheap parry system either. Pick one way to be irritating please lmao. And don't lock me into long drawn out finishers but then not give i-frames during 🙄
AI is way too aggressive. Somehow you'll bump into one guy and the whole city knows on sight to jump you. They chase you for way too long and are terrible to try to get away from but fighting any crowd pretty much guarantees you're going to get cooked. Once you get the combat system down you can parry and fight crowds but it won't be fun it's gonna feel like a chore
Yeah, the stealth is really good like others are saying but they sacrificed literally on every other front and did not make any great strides on the stealth. It's not improved, just on par as stealth hasn't ever really been an issue.
I would *NOT* spend money on this game, and I usually buy these as soon as they come out so I'm glad I didn't. But after the numerous warnings, if you still want to try it buy a month of Ubisoft plus and disable recurrent billing, don't pay full price.
I've loved Ubisoft since at least Black Flag but 12 hours in I can safely say they've gravely disappointed me with this one.
