we are living through tough times when the past seems to be returning and with all the danger to people that we trhought had faded into the past. This book by Cordell is vibrant exciting and emotional. cordell so accurately researched for this book that historians today use much of the history he collated. It is a fact based novel based around a family facing destitution and hardship in those rough,tough times of the industrial revolution. People got through those days but many died along the way, Cordell tells their story with empathic dignity. As you read this book you may well feel some affinity for those brave characters leaping from the pages, and you wont be wrong. The film rights to the book were purchased from Cordell and the buyer vowed to shelve the book to ensure it was nevder made into the movie it deserves to be.

Series 1 gripped from the opening scene, series 2 was a slow burner by comparison, but while the plot was twisted and bordering tortuous, it got kore and more gripping. The final episode took me exactly where i wanted to be................there has to be a 3rd series. The cast was again superb, with a couple of new additions, keeping continuity but not confusing. Steve Baldini is a super charactefr and is superbly played, while Faithm became ever more the woman teetering on the edge, but the villain is Evan, a scary man. Another star is the scenery, Wales shown at it's best. Thank you, Matthew Hall and Pip Broughton who with S4C brought this to our screens.
