Wouldn't recommend seeing in theaters, would've rather waited to stream it for free or rent for a couple bucks on Amazon. Some excellent cinematic choices, for example the paper cut outs and use of camera angles for mirror scenes, and a well done score are marred by an extremely blatant and on the nose social commentary. Full disclosure l agree with the social messaging. The point is the movie reallllly needed some level of subtlety and nuance. We aren't stupid, we will get the message without it having to be blatantly spelled out and being so on the nose. The premise of building on the previous movie had a lot of promise but ended up being extremely predictable and boring. I understand people gushing over the movie for the messaging and others condemning it for leaving them feeling kicked in the fruits, but all that aside as a horror movie it just wasn't that entertaining or well done.
