Every one star review speaks of logic. Y'all are really looking for "logic" behind half the things in the movie when it's entirely fiction.
Even if a Mexican family's portrayal is stereotypical, half the plot is ridden with cliches and predictability, let's not pretend it wasn't a feels good movie all in all. I found the protagonist endearing, the self-defense slogan very important, and the family banding together against evil is very different to what we usually watch in superhero films.
It's not a waste of time. The cgi and fight scenes were very thrilling. The chemistry between the two protagonists was cute. And it really did give a sense of empowerment towards the end. Thoroughly enjoyed the film. But it is not your average Spiderman or batman if that's what you're looking for in this film.
