Spoiler alerts: What a mess. First people don't survive plane wrecks. The chemistry between the two leads was non existent for me. Do people fall asleep when they fall through the ice? Does the ice you were walking on suddenly decide to break? Does it break in January in the Uintas? The answer to all of the above is nay. I could have got through all that but the writing was awful. Just awful. I didn't ever connect with the characters and by the time the movie was about 70% over I was wishing they would freeze to take me out of my pain.

This chapter in the Trek saga is fantastic. Great characters and character development. Visually stunning, (I have no problem with the ship being fancier than those chronologically coming later ) It is grittier than any trek before. This plays fine and adds to the drama, but very disappointed in season1 episode 5 that "went where no trek had gone before." No need for vulgarity of an R nature. After all generations have watched together for decades. All in all a great effort. I've enjoyed it greatly. You have a treat ahead of you.

A great trek in the overall Trekkiness. Enjoyed the thought-provoking ending and a little TNG crew scattered throughout. Started a little slow but the momentum built nicely. As with Discovery the F-bombs seemed unnecessary and out of place. Star Trek should always be multi- generational. Thanks for making a great show.
