I have read many foster carer books such as those by Cathy Glass, Casey Watson, Rosie Lewis and Maggie Hartley so I thought I would give this book a try. Personally, I didn't enjoy the writing style or the narrative voice. Louise Allen writes critically (in a negative way) about social services, the child's teacher and other people she interacts with as part of the job. I understand some criticism but I don't see why a teacher's poor dye job or supposed lack of make up skill is relevant to the story. I think she lacks the professionalism and understanding of her role as a foster carer that other foster carer writers have and I don't plan to read any more of her stories. That said, it is great that she is able to use her past experiences in such a positive way by helping children and I wish her all the best.
