Dory Gagne

What a strange book, I could only read through it until the dinner scene but it's just so goofy, all the children act like one dementional clowns, if they are introduced with one sort of personality trait/interest then it's repeated over and over with no depth. Also we are reminded several times that no one likes the main character and that he's fat and g*y and overweight and round and has a large stomach. That's not much of a plot to me. It's just not a fun read.

i really love V.E.Schwab's books, I've read the darker shade series, Gallant, and the villain books, but this one I don't like. The beginning was kinda slow but then halfway through i was enjoying it, then about 80% through I couldn't wait for it to be over. It felt like she just needed a fast way to end it. and...uh...spoiler...of sorts Why does a "God" fall in love with a human? Especially that human...its kinda cringe.

I couldn't finish this book. The main character hates everyone in the village and is the only competent person. She does the impossible (murdering a fairy) and is given the opportunity to live in fairy land paradise away from her awful, useless, cruel family. The fairy who comes to collect her for the murder she committed was a friend of the fairy who died but he offers her a luxurious new life with him. Oh and he's hot and has a hot best friend. I had to stop after that.
