I love TP,and I don't know whether what we're seeing on the screen is intentional or a mistake. The main characters in this show face what I'd call midlife crisis. They are mature but act childish. I think this show underates the female emotional strength. The women here are too held up on each other. You face a little decision to make and you have to call your friends. Andi and Sabrina have no direction especially emotionally, yet they are almost out of their peak in life. Fatima was independent and strong until she joins the circle. They feel entitled to each other's lives which is a good thing if they were actual blood sisters or building each other financially and stuff. In this case personal matters are their only bond. Gary asks Andi to marry him in Season 4 and it's her friends who have to decide and Sabrina ironically claims Andi is independent enough to make her own decisions. This is a typically and serial example of profiling. The girls only know the men from her say.
Also, the main characters make bad decisions and seek console and validation from each other and when Karen disagrees with Andi's seemingly poor decision to marry Gary she has to leave.
Although this show is about sisters, it depicts a lot female chauvinism. All of the men are brought out as immature and poor decision makers, even Aaron the preacher. Watching this show, i frequently asked myself, does this character ever want to move on? If you are a detailed kind of person or a tidist, you will find many instances where the main characters are childish. I am not a script writer so I can't tell TP how to do his job, that's why i said i couldn't tell whether the writing was supposed to represent the ladies in such a manner, or a mistake as in, in a bid to bring out strong ladies there ends up being so many mistakes.
However, this show is one of the best. It engages you emotionally and intellectually. It gets you thinking about issues in modern life.
