Mike Varela

Willow the film is one of my favorite movies. Great cast, big winding story with magic and world building. Special effects that matched the time and a great triumphant ending. The tv show however is not so great. The characters feel one note and lack charisma. The accents are all over the place and specifically the daughter of the queen, her American accent places her more in a CW show than this epic. In fact, the whole show feels like it’s a typical network drama on a middle budget with an act structure. The show lacks all the mysticism and danger that the movie had. The characters are flat and one note and it all feels tired and worn out, especially in context of the time and the shows that HBO and Amazon have recently put out. So disappointed.
