This is definitely an underrated album in their discography and I’m not entirely sure why.
Although not their best, I still absolutely love this album. It’s masterfully produced with some incredible songwriting. It has a great mix between kickass and more introspective/delicate songs. Some highlight tracks for me are “The Evil Has Landed”, which has one of the best guitar riffs I’ve ever heard. “Fortress” Is absolutely beautiful and is such a masterclass in songwriting. “Head Like A Haunted House” is bombastic and crazy in all the right ways. “Hideaway”, definitely an underrated track which is so damn groovy I love it.
This record is on pretty constant rotation for me. Definitely a worthy listen for a QOTSA fan or anyone who’s a fan of alternative rock.
