Moby Dick is not a fishing story and this isn’t really a sci-fi space movie, so go into it expecting to do some deep thinking and to leave having revisited your daddy issues from 30 years ago. This story could have been told using a sea captain, arctic researcher, or long haul trucker, any dad whose job involves large distances and who made a choice between his boy and finding answers to big questions. This story just chose to exaggerate those distances a billion times over and used a solar system-wide journey to find dear old dad as the underlying theme or metaphor or whatever. It’s a good movie, I will watch it again when it plays on tv and I want a reason to stay up too late on Saturday night. Brad Pitt is a boss and Tommy Lee Jones doesn’t care what you think. He’s orbiting Neptune, what’ve you done lately?
