This is an amazing movie that has too much hate for what it is.
It is a PG-rated movie that has a 13-Year old girl going through puberty for the first time. I do not agree with the part that people are calling it "inappropriate."
It talks about themes that a six-year-old shouldn't know/be learned at his/her age. It teaches about puberty and periods. How is it inappropriate? Yes, a six-year-old shouldn't watch the movie for these reasons.
Parents are only reading the reviews from their friends/random people on the internet, which isn't always the best way. I suggest to any parent who thinks about watching this with their children to WATCH IT FIRST WITHOUT YOUR CHILDREN/KIDS. Then, you know what is in it, and if you are ready to explain this to your children (As you know now, Puberty, Periods, ECT.)
Another reason why I cannot understand why people are calling it "inappropriate," Is that this movie is almost the exact same as Luca (A movie by Pixar) Luca is a 13-year-old who is disobedient to his parents. for many reasons. Mei (or Mei-Mei/Melin) is disobedient with her mother, and people call it "inappropriate?" The only difference is that the main character is a FEMALE. If this is why it is "inappropriate," I will respect your opinion, but highly disagree.
Please, parents, do not say it is "inappropriate" without watching it.
Another problem is that parents will think that there are NO themes that you should explain with your children at first, so when they watch it, the child has many questions, and the parents regret watching it, and call it inappropriate. It is not inappropriate, you should just read that IT IS RATED PG BECAUSE IT NEEDS PARENTAL GUIDANCE.
Anyways, please watch it, It is good!!
