This book was a journey. It's not a story with a beginning and an obvious end.There is no moral or 'end' per se. Its a web of memories. Narrator so wonderfully slides through the timelines introducing you to characters and narrating memories as they come. Great amalgamation of fiction and history, very different wirtting style and a Good read.!

This book made me uncomfortable with its eccentric set up and unconventional characters.Arundhati Roy's characters are very complex. Book goes back and forth with various call backs and unusual references.Sometimes it feels lengthy and discontinuous and it's difficult to keep up. But over all the story is captivating and one of it's kind. Book mostly talks about complexity of human emotions and how our today is entangled with our past.Emotions depicted in the book are far from simple. Reality and truth is what Arundhati Roy has tried to encompass in 'God of Small Things.'

Manto is a well thought movie. it's a perfect biography telling you what happened in Manto's life with utter honesty. His life wasnt as dramtic as a hero in bollywood yet movie makers have choosen to keep it the way it is without making it dramtic with unrequired songs and dramtizing secens. He is a legend, he deserves to be talked about and the movie captures this point very accuretly.
Its a simple story of a man who was a revolutionary writer who painted the mirror image of soceity through his Afsanas. Its not athriller, nor is suspence. You watch this movie to know this legend and see some of his Afsanas enacted by a wonderful cast.
the take away of the movie are Manto was great writer and its a shame people hardly know about him and writers can change your perspective with their pens.
P.S: Afsanas are HIGHLIGHTS of the movie.

The book has wonderfully portrayed all the characters. Urmila's character is so strong and wild that you admire her the most by the end of the book. The most striking feature of this book is how it has portrayed these supposedly godly figures as any other human with human vulnerabilities and emotions. Thus its easier to understand the choices made my each character and emotion behind it.
