Let me get something off of my chest before I begin.
I. Love. M. Night Shyamalan.
Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable, Split, Glass and The Visit are great movies.
I even liked Old a little.
Despite that, this is by far one of, if not the WORST movie I've seen in years. It's clear from the start that this is meant solely to promote his daughter's flat, monotone Adelle-Copy-And-Paste music. All 1hr and 46min drag into a movie that feels longer than the Snyder Cut.
The Plot: Cooper Abbot is a serial killer known as "The Butcher" (so original, I know) and it's attending a concert with his daughter. During the concert Cooper learns that the FBI have set it up as a trap to catch him and throughout the whole concert he must Agent 47 his way out.
Spoilers: The movie is filled with padding and useless scenes. Two unusual cameos from Russ and Kid Cudi. A really bad sequence of events, and a terrible ending.
For some reason we see that Cooper has a dude locked in a basement.
After the concert Cooper stupidly gives himself up to Lady Raven and forces her to get him and his daughter out of the arena by threatening to kill basement dude via carbon monoxide. Afterward, for some reason, she decides she wants to go to Cooper's house. She uses this opportunity to get Coopers phone, locks herself in the bathroom and talks to basement dude to deduce his location whereafter she starts an Instagram freaking LIVE to get someone to go get the guy. Then she is cornered by Cooper who had locked his family in a room upstairs, he takes her to the garage and puts her in a car. Here she tries using his psychology against him and nothing happens. He opens the garage door to see his family and seemingly gives up, letting Lady Raven go as he closes the garage door. The police pull up and surround the place. (Here I was so happy because I thought this was over) turns out Cooper had a secret tunnel and escapes, he then tries to kidnap Lady Raven but fails because a firefighter wouldn't think to engage child safety locks on the windows and doors of a limo.
Here's where the movie really started agitating me. Lady Raven gets out of the limo and police pull up AGAIN and surround him AGAIN yet somehow he managed to, in mere seconds, change out of SWAT gear and into civilian clothes. He then returns to the house where his wife is waiting with police outside, he confronts her and figures out that she set up the trap at the concert.
He tries to kill her but can't because she drugged him, he then sees a hallucination of his mom then walks into the living room where he is arrested. Then after he is put in the back of a police van with no security on him (despite being a master escape artist) he gets out of his cuffs with a bike spoke and I'm assuming escapes to kill again.
That was just the cliff notes of a really bad film. Don't watch it, save yourself the time to watch a better movie.
