Jacky Thomson – Google

I've seen other versions of Lady Chatterley's Lover and read the book. This version in my opinion is definitely the best I've seen. It doesn't have any of the graphic language from D.H. Lawrence's book which to me gave it far more tenderness and a joy to watch without losing the atmosphere of forbidden love from Lawrence's original story. Emma Corrin as Constance and Jack O'connor as Mellors were perfect, the chemistry between them very real and made this film a truly beautiful love story.

Brilliantly acted by all and an outstanding performance from Benedict Cumberbatch. I was in my early teens when this was going on and really had no idea of the seriousness of the crisis at that time. To know now that two very ordinary, incredibly brave family men played such a crucial part in averting what could have been total devastation was eye-opening to say the least. The way the film portrayed the events was, without being over dramatic, very moving and enlightening. Not one to miss, especially if you enjoy true stories!

Brilliant acting all round but especially by Martin Freeman. Quite a few people have said it was slow to start with but I got into it straight away. The character he plays feels very real, of an overworked copper on the beat whose life is falling apart. Because he cares so much about the very troubled lives he encounters, in trying to protect them to the detriment of his family and his health, putting them into serious danger. Can't wait for the next series.
