Although the 2023 version was well played, I prefer the first Color Purple. The 2023 actors did a good job, but I lost interest during the musical parts. I was not aware there'd be that much singing. Duh. It is a musical, right? The movie was soulful and in some cases provocative. It expressed women's longing for equality, respect, and acceptance. The movie shed light that women and men are equal and need each other.
