Well-acted and pretty to watch. But, Lord almighty, it's a tiresome woke departure from the original. Wow. Everyone's gay, the black-white post-slavery tension is high, Aunt Josephine runs a salon that looks like it belongs in San Fran or the Hunger Games. It's sooo tiresome and predictable. I mean, can you not ram your social agenda down our throats for a change? (Apparently not.) And, would it be so terrible to stick to the original story, which actually had charm, unlike this?
