Way too much woo being added to the story by the show, relative to the books. This series is really missing the broad economic and sociological takes from the book, and seems to replace it with 'math and science are magic' bland nonsense. I would have loved to see some of the cross-casting and modernizing choices that the show made, but in a series that at least bears resemblance to the source material or even shares some of its central themes. It's reasonably well produced sci-fi though, and the sound editing is pretty great. Probably best enjoyed if you haven't read the books and go in with low expectations.
