This composition by Ryuichi Sakamoto is perhaps the most hauntingly beautiful I've ever heard; it exquisitely conveys the raw intensity of both Heathcliff and Cathy's love and, gradually, the music becomes perfectly in sync with the raw aesthetics of the rocks, the grey clouds moving in, the black spidery branches of the bare winter tree against the sky and the black birds frantically going in and out of that tree, searching but not finding, with the winds of the impending danger in that barren, fruitless image they called "her future". Sakamoto's music IS the approaching malady that lies ahead, just as Cathy's soul IS.. Heathcliff's soul. It's breathtaking. This is the work of a rare, so very gifted, artist.
