I actually never knew about the tv show when I watched this movie. It came on tv while I was relaxing so I decided to watch it. It didnt seem as bad as everyone is making it to be. It was a little cringy but the songs were catchy and I liked the message behind the storyline. I guess I didnt go in with expectations that clouded my judgement. It was cute for what it was and a good movie for a young teenage girl.
