I’m gonna be honest, I thought this was going to be an average movie when the trailers came out. But with the advertisement and everything, it made me think the movie was worth watching. And it was, sort of. The plot was nice, with the average Bowser wants Peach storyline. The storyline was faithful to the games and was a treat for all of the Mario fans. (Also the soundtrack was a banger!) The only problem I have with this film is the pacing. I feel like we were a bit robbed from scenes with Peach, Toad, and Mario socializing more. I feel like even a pep-talk before Mario fought DK would’ve been nice at this point. Also, I think the film might have been better if it was longer. The scenes that they scrapped would’ve been awesome additions to the movie. Anyways, Illumination did a surprisingly good job with this film! I will give it 4 stars because of the pacing and because of how short it was. As a Mario fan, I loved watching this and hunting down the Easter eggs that they hid into the movie.
