Some scenes could have been edited down but your patience will pay off. I'm not sure what viewers who are not familiar with the true story behind Tarantino's revisionist history will think of it. Personally, I was a kid when the Manson family murders happened & the details of it in the news traumatized me. The media went wild with the story & the culture was saturated with it for years. I love that Tarantino's version shows the 'family's members' to be twisted idiot losers instead of the mysterious Satanic cult they were made out to be at the time. Back then, the victims were all but ignored and all of the attention to the point of obsession went to the murderers who were sometimes sickeningly revered as anti-heroes taking on the establishment. What happens to the Manson family members in this movie is what I dearly wish had happened to them in real life. Sharon is given a realness and a vulnerability in the film that got lost in all of the focussing on the killers in reality. Brad and Leo both give stellar performances. 3 hours well spent.
