Very well scripted movie narrates the plight of the women who are reduced to the level of slaves in their dark kitchens while menfolk relax on easy chairs. The story truly depicts the state of a typical Indian wife. The restrictions imposed on the menstruating woman looks rather exaggerated. Applying it to the Sabarimala entry issue is questioning faith of a community of believers. Here the movie slips away from the main narrative of khighlighting the slavery of women in their own homes

I would have liked to give a rating of 4.8 for this movie. It is one of the best Malayalam movies in recent times. It has been scripted to perfection, well directed, acted and beautifully captured using all possibilities of modern cine camera. The background music score couldn’t have been better. Cinematography is outstanding, and it makes sure that the dynamic nature of the routines inside the police station is captured without losing its essence. Nayattu exposes the influence politicians exert on the police force and the perils that they have to go through as a result. This movie is thoroughly realistic and thought provoking.
