I really wanted to love this. Dune is one of my favourite books, and despite its many faults, the Lynch adaptation at least put in the spacing guild. And this is really my biggest problem with the latest film. Without a sense of why the spice must flow, we cant really care why everyone is fighting over it. And in this game of thrones, without the space guild's shadowy presence, the machinations of the bene g and the houses all seems pretty low stake. And after all the build up of part one, the demise of barron h felt very anti climactic. For such a long adaption, it felt weirdly rushed at the end. Beautiful film, however. I could have watched 3 more hours of gedi prime gladiatorial battles in infa red.
