Great visuals, cinematography. But so-so plotting. Cliche but bearable. [SPOILER ALERT] IMO the MC is annoying enough to go back to the person that literally ditched her without thinking and blindly re-accept her back into his life. LOL. He went nuts for rejecting her again and again now what, just forced himself to love a stalker like that? She jumped off a roof just to punish some students bad mouthing her "crush" is the cherry on top. It's ridiculous. Stupid, obsessive love story that eventually male lead felt sorry for MC just bcs she seemed to have suffered as much as he does when literally, it's none of his business. She ditched everyone in the first place anyway. Didn't have self-love to start with. Sorry. Loved the cat concept but this one about the MC and the boy ain't getting it. Stop portraying "silly + obsessive" high school girls when there's so much better qualities to look for at this age. This movie just "ruined" some of the best genres in anime and that's a red light.

Watched this a couple months ago, felt like this movie is still underrated to many of anime goers. And a bonus if you have an ear for masterpiece, bcs this movie has it all. From plots, casts, bgm and visuals, GHIBLI outdid every single time. By far, one of my favs by them. The open ending made it better IMO as there's so many great opportunities and possibilities for the characters growth which is better for us to believe as a watcher 🤗❤️ Arrietty is soooo adorable, love how GS portray their characters very well.
