Stephen Colbert is brilliant and his brilliance has been enhanced with the Late Show. I've been a fan since I first saw him on TDS with Jon Stewart - the Stephen v. Steven bits were the best. I was fortunate enough to afford the cable throughout his tenure there and on the Colbert Report. Although I still miss Dave, I'm ecstatic that Stephen is the replacement. Now I'm old and must probably cancel my cable subscription soon in order to meet rising other costs. Old and perplexed at why some people troll around the internet to say disparaging things about television shows. Why watch if you don't like? Last night's compilation of interviews was fantastic and I'll take with me the bit about despair being hubris and hope I can find a way to manage keeping the cable :)

On the fence after just two episodes so will post final thoughts at end. First reaction is that the writers are mistaking film noir to mean film "nuit," surely these people are enjoying some of the days of endless sunshine in pre-smog L.A.

I have both Acorn and Britbox because I’ve been enamored with Brit murder mysteries since the age of 10 whilst reading Agatha Christie at my gramma’s. This series is a magnificent representative of the genre with incredible plots in each episode and the ongoing long thread. Beautiful setting, great actors and perfect mixture of suspense and humor.

I'm a sucker for choral singing, loved that almost every song sung went all the way, nicely edited. Followed the viewing by finding the soundtrack so now I have them both. Perfect antidote to current events.

I do hope the writing for this show does not reflect Marcia Clark's writing in her novels which I've been looking forward to reading. I loved the idea of this "revenge" plot but 2 episodes in and the dialogue is barely palatable.

I'm not certain whether it was really bad acting or really bad directing or the convoluted storyline but this series was a huge disappointment that I got led to after viewing the magnificent "Woman in Gold." I will have to watch the entire "Foyle's War" series another couple of times to get the taste of this out of my mouth. Anthony Horowitz did a much better job with Foyle's than Poliakoff did with this.
