People leaving scary movie reviews should have to have some kind of qualifier for their ability to recognize truly horrifying situations. For those of us who have even had the slightest scary moments in our lives or encountered evil in any capacity, films will be able to scare us. It's not a challenge to go to a film and sit there with your arms crossed and say, "Terrify me". It doesn't work that way. Longlegs has plenty horrifying and scary moments in it for those of us who have lived a little life. Go see it.

This is a suspenseful, engaging culturally-rich story. Having never seen the original Godzilla, or really many of the other films about the creature, I still sensed an incredible atmosphere of reverence for the source material. The story commits to Godzilla as an embodiment of nuclear war and does not attempt to make it a character, which really adds to the terror of the concept and the irrational nature of the beast as an awakened force of nature of almost Lovecraftian qualities. Epic movie, can't wait to see what they do next.
