Trent and Amber, I have to commend you for keeping it all together with such a big family. Hats off to Jonah for going to counseling and "opening up". That is not an easy thing to do. Perhaps you might consider having Alex go to counseling too? He is quite vocal and disrespectful toward you and seems to be cocky. I would hate to see his behavior escalate and become an obstacle to learning, making friends,etc. I say all of this with kindness as a mom( to 2 sons in their 30's) who could've used similar advice years ago.
