Directed by sound designer Ben Burtt, "Special Effects: Anything Can Happen" chronicles the history of visual effects for films, including Lucasfilm's original Star Wars (for which Burtt designed all sounds) and the emergence of Industrial Light + Magic. Included is an overview of the work of Ray Harryhausen and a re-creation of King Kong—with stop-motion animation by Dave Allen—set atop the Transamerica Tower in San Francisco. Though only 40 minutes, this film, created exclusively for true IMAX movie theaters, handing 15-perf 70mm film stock, is a must-see for any and all fans of the fantastical in cinema.
