Watching Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero Live be a shadow of their former selves really made me lose hope that this game would ever get the recognition and credit that it deserved ever again. I basically grew up with the GH community, and for years on end I played every version of the game (including the knock-offs like Rock Revolution, Tap Tap, PowerGig, etc). The main game that I always went back to was GH3PC, and over the years it seemed that there wasn't another game that compared. I watched fan made games like Fofix, Phase Shift, and GHPCed fade out over time, and I was sure that the definitive game was always going to be GH3. After all, Exile even went a step further into taking away the note limit, adding tap notes, making a speed hack, and so much more that made me feel this way.
I was wrong. This game made Guitar Hero come back and be even more fun than it ever was before. The installation is simple, adding songs doesn't need an external tool, you can manually speed up the songs, the engine feels much better than GH3's ever did, the controller compatibility is almost endless, converting songs from other games is simple, meme charts are fun as hell, more controller options are being added (as of this review, Drums and the 6 fret GH:L Guitar are a feature), it runs well on practically any sort of hardware, and best of all, there is an awesome community surrounding it that continues to bring innovation.
I've now been playing Clone Hero for almost 3 years, and I'm happy to see that this game still is in good standing. I'm very excited to see what will be coming next with this game. If you are looking to get into Guitar Hero in general, I'd say that this is the game to start on!
