This is a movie about people trying to live their dreams, what happens when those dreams get derailed, and what they do to move on to other dreams. The characters are black, but the message speaks to people of all colors who have ever had dreams of bettering themselves. Turquoise may be small in stature but she is a strong woman who will do whatever it takes to provide for herself and her daughter. We like Turquoise and Kai, and we want them to succeed. Nicole Beharie gives an award-winning performance, and the actresses in this movie make you believe that they really are related.
