Probably the most accurate history on Billy the Kid. Another review mentions Jesse James. The show depicts Jesse Evans, not Jesse James. And Billy did ride with the Jesse Evans gang. Then he switched sides before the Lincoln County war. I also believe this depiction on Billy the Kid as a more of outlaw by circumstances than outlaw to be a ruthless outlaw is more accurate. He was orphaned at 14 and had to fend for himself. If Deadwood is a 10, this is a solid 8. The caliber of actors is not on equal with Deadwood, but the acting, writing and filmography is very good. Remember Timothy Olyphant was almost unknown when Deadwood was filmed and maybe these actors will be on par with TO and Ian McShane someday.
