I only give this adaptation two stars for the actors. I feel sorry for them due to the very poor script they had to work with. This script BARELY touched on the original story as told by Jane Austen. The 1995 version with Amanda Root(as Anne) and Ciaran Hinds(as Captain Wentworth) a much MUCH better adaptation of the novel. It's only missing the original story behind Mr Elliott's devious plan and his past exploitations. I was really hoping this 2022 version was going to correct that, but it failed utterly in every aspect - except the actors! I think they did the best job they could based on what they were given. And as unbiased as I tried to remain while watching this movie...I simply could not stay silent on how poorly the wonderful, original story was rpresented in this script.
