Lee Huang Chua

My first time reading a book by a Malay Malaysian author my age group. Although a Singaporean, I spent my formative years - aged 11 to 24 - in KL. I went to school there and worked as a teacher before I returned to Singapore. I love Malaysia for its land - varied and natural landscapes of forest, seas, beaches, rivers, and also tranquil kampongs and small towns . Having worked as a teacher there, I have an inkling of the mood of the place. This seemingly simple story of a pensioner has a voice that resonates with mine. I wish to congratulate Adam Said for telling a story with deep insight and sensitivity.
