First off, this book is just clever. If you like a writer that's smart, that writes things that make sense, and is one step ahead of you ... then Ms. Walschots is your author.
Spoilers (lite).
OK, so the protagonist is just a regular lady. She is book smart, but not amounting to much. After an encounter with a superhero, where she is injured, she begins to obsess over how much damage superheroes do.
Using only her knowledge of statistics, and deviously applying pressure on the weak links the data provides, we have the story of the ultimate supervillain. Sounds boring? Paperwork warrior? Well, it should be, but like I said, Ms. Walschots is smarter than us. She SHOWS us how the character does each sabotage: she explains the parameters and the characters and then challenges us to come up with our own devious plans ... and then she shows us how a pro would do it. This author may be the most devious person on the planet. And it is exquisite. (I just don't want to make her mad at me).
Oh, there is plenty of action, but this is not milk chocolate for babies. This is a superhero experience of 75% cocoa. This is sophisticated comic book trope for clever people.
If you want Oceans 11 level planning coupled with graphic novel action, and you are feeling a bit evil, just read the dang book.
