Yes I understand that the movie was based off a book and apparently very accurate to the book. With that being said, pretty sure you can tell a story about a person who got exploited without exploiting the actress who is Marilyn instead of exploiting the actress the same way Marilyn was. Dick sucking scene with a voice over going something along the lines of “ or is it a movie scene where I’m playing a blonde actress in a soft porn movie” like if that scene is suppose to be poetic or as if it provides insight to anything. Sometimes the story feels like a romanticization of a lonely Hollywood girl looking for love and finding it all the wrong places. As if it was all her fault. For example the scene where her lover slaps her and assuming rapes her because of the sharp sound she made while peeing. Easily could have expanded on how that made Norma Jean feel. The inner conflict of deciding to go back as Marilyn knowingly being objectified vs finding safety in a controlling abusive husband. There was potential to see and feel Norma as a person, but gets washed over with her addiction and her mental illness.
