Knowing Hideaki Anno's previous works, I did not have a high expectation for this movie, but boy I was still disappointed by it. There are surpringsly a lot of B-movie elements and amateur filming techniques involved in this movie, despite it has an approximate 2 Billion Japanese Yen budget. Cheap gores, shaky camera, confusing editing, rapid camera transitions, and a CGI fight made with a really dark background, you name it. Oh and did I tell you there are literally dozens of scenes in this film shot by an iphone camera? Anno has made this film with the intention of making it only for himself, and a handful of people who would eat anything he cooks no matter how bad it tastes. I won't say much about the plot and other aspects of this movie, just read the spoiler online by yourself, you won't miss a lot. And imo the only thing good about this movie is the soundtrack. At least Taku Iwasaki does not disappoint.
