Richard Beaty

I’m a huge fan of Jane Smiley - her books have always been a real pleasure to read always amusing and very often insightful and moving ( loved horse heaven and Moo) That said her latest work Lucky was very disappointing The main character had no arc of development the plot was boring and went nowhere and I was hard pressed even to finish the book The final epilogue made a mockery of the previous 400 plus pages and annoyed me no end Of course the writing itself is very well done but we expect a lot more from Ms Smiley
