I found this film witty, well-paced, and very tongue-in-cheek. I've read criticisms about it that accused it of becoming tedious and losing its message midway through, but THAT is the joke!
The title " Damsels in Distress " should give you a clue that this movie shouldn't be taken seriously; even the 'suicide prevention' doesn't deal with REAL distress nor does it have an effective therapeutic response ( If you've seen it you know what I'm talking about). These are affluent, charming, and beautiful kids who really never had a bad day in their lives, and if they did they very likely were assisted by someone throwing money at the problem.
It is wildly entertaining to watch once you get that joke ( and the final credits are the culmination of that joke!)
"Distress" it seems is a relative concept.
