This movie seems to get some flack. To that I say, study quantum physics and believe in the unbelievable. Why did the bubbles come? To that I say study philosophy and ask “why not?” Don’t you think if mankind found life on another planet one of the first things would be to study and make contact? What of other dimensions? The idea of a multiverse?
This movie is about bubbles, parkour, life, the universe, and everything. But the greatest is love.
For those saying it was a poor retell of the little mermaid, I say it may very well be the only movie I’ve seen that accurately depicts the original story. How can it be a lazy retelling if most people think the little mermaid is about a mermaid who becomes human and a princess and has a happy ending? (And later goes on to have a human daughter that becomes a mermaid again.) If anything, Disney’s little mermaid was the lazy one that told us the story we want to hear, not the one that should be told.
I think there are just some people with empathy and understanding for their place in this grand universe, then there are others who can only imagine life as it is now. You either have a science fiction background or you don’t. If you don’t, I can see how you would’ve been confused. Just because the premise was beyond humanity’s current understanding, doesn’t make it a bad film. If you’re reading reviews to decide if you should watch it— stop now and put it on to decide for yourself. Stop letting others think for you.
