I understand, but don't necessarily agree with, the decision to walk back much of the direction taken in the previous installment. This movie trips all over itself in doing so, though, and settles for nostalgia and fan service in lieu of plot or even much of a sense of logic. The franchise deserved more attention to the overall story arc in this trilogy from the get-go, but this entry is a very dissatisfying fail.
