Watches like a very polished stage play with some interesting stories but unfortunately mediocre writing: flippancy that wants to be passed off as wit and attempts at deep philosophical meaning that flops for zero subtlety. The ‘baddie’ tropes aren’t so bad if seen as camp rather than taken seriously.
Lena Heady is always fun, and the dynamic with her co-star was enjoyable enough to keep me watching as I waited for something satisfying to develop. Maybe in season two…? If you love great sci-fi and with compelling plot lines, tight writing, superb acting, excellent pacing through 5 seasons, watch The Expanse, the original wild ride that featured fluorescent blue ET consciousness.
