Resurrections is a good sequel but this one somewhat came with too many flashbacks of the old times.
Mainly the movie focused on trust and sentimentality, freedom and empowerment; 2 sides of the same coin fused in 1, very much to the 'Dao' symbol reflecting Yin-Yang in resonance to each other, creating a balance.
Its a deep meaning so not easy for many, including acclaimed critics to understand, let alone audiences who (may have) waited for a sequel.
That said, what Lily Wachowski have shunned away from, is the possibility of this trilogy turning into a bad money churning series like the MCU, endlessly drawing audiences back for more.
Although i do wish to return to find out more on what changes now both Trinity and Neo would do, its something not easy to upscale from here as they have made in this move.
For fans of the Matrix series, I would say go for it but take time to digest as there's alot in this film to look out.
Sentimentality kinda overwhelms the movie for most parts but the advancement, especially on the tech/jargon used is up to date and should go past the Matrix program and more focus into the 'real world' if there's a follow-up to this.
For new comers to the series, I won't recommend starting this film as there's too much to digest in 1 go, start with the 1st to which this movie is heavily panned on in the 1st half.
The main difference between this and the earlier trilogy is the energy in the actors as well as the advancement of the technology from then to now.
Personally, i still prefer the earlier trilogy works, compared to this one but its also how the current world now works too.
Most of all, a good ending (compared to the all out fight in Matrix 3) is much more desired for a series of this caliber.
Hopefully, this can spurn a better continuation to 1~2 more to close this genre of movie off.
