Sure, I fully expect to get "hate responses" but I have to be honest. I went to see Mesmerica at one of my absolute favorite childhood venues, the Fernbank Science Center in Atlanta, Ga. I fully expected that anything that played there would be absolutely worth it.......it wasn't. I payed for the VIP package and sat down, looked up and waited for something amaziing. When the narrator (I suspect it was James) came on, I'm thinking "OK, this is going to be like an Enigma 90's intro, sit down, relax" kind of thing. I did not need the narrator to tell me how to think and feel throughout the show. Also, call me a geek, a techy, a perfectionist but if you are wanting people to pay for a sight and sound show, you better have the sight match the sound....call me kooky. It looked as if James hired some CGI guy to throw up random images and scenery. It really detracted and distracted and I really got tired of seeing the same imagery, in different colors and sizes over and over. Plus, the fractal imaging became boring after a while. I began to feel impatient, waiting for it to get to the good stuff. Little did I realize, this was the good stuff. After the show, I went to the "VIP area" which was a small, cramped room where I was handed a poster and told "thanks". I asked where I was supposed to download the music I payed for. I was told I should have gotten a link for downloading with my ticket, I didn't and when I told them, they just said to e-mail customer service. I did, and finally got the music. I now plan to listen to it wiihout all the technical distractions and narrations. Sorry James, not too impressed. It is not something I would refer to friends nor see again. The old addage holds true.."It is hard to make a good first impression" That said, figure the odds I'll go to see "Beautifica" when and if it makes it to Atlanta. Basic stuff, James, make what you see match what you hear.
