I saw the film twice and loved it! It has all the elements of a great Godzilla movie. It pays homage to Godzilla's Japanese origins. The relationships between Godzilla, Mothra (friend), Rodan (frenemy), and Ghidorah (enemy) are there. The original monster music themes and roars from the Showa and Heise era are incorporated in the film with a modern update. I love how the soundtrack included Japanese chanting with taiko drums during the fight scenes. The mystical elements typical of Godzilla movies, i.e., twin fairies, monster legend tales, are presented. I've been watching Godzilla movies since I was a kid in the 70s. I've seen all of them and this one, some 40 plus years later, is awesome. My 10 year niece loved the movie and said she wants to see some of the older movies with Mothra ❤. The ending credit shown to honor the men who played Godzilla in the early movies was very touching. Most of the audience stayed during the credits and sang along to the Go Go Godzilla song and listened to the original theme music again. The critics are wrong. Go see this movie, especially if you are a Godzilla fan!
